Searching for addresses, Orleans Parish neighborhoods or ZIP codes

The WIMBY Maps tool allows you to search and find features of interest to you. WIMBY Maps allow you to search by address or Neighborhood (in Orleans Parish only) or Zip code.

The search or find task can be displayed from the Tasks list in the Menu. Click the down-arrow to expand the Tasks list. Click on the task item to open it.

Search by Address task

  1. The Search by Address task opens in a new element window within the mapping application. This element window may be moved, collapsed, and closed. See Getting Started for details on using moveable windows.

  2. Enter the Address or Intersection, City and State Abbreviation that you want to search. The ZIP code is optional.
  3. Click Find to start the search.
  4. The Results section expands in the Menu to display results of the search (if it does not expand automatically, click the down-arrow in the Results section to display it). The text searched for displays in the results item.
  5. If features are found, a plus button appears next to the results item. Click the plus button to expand and explore the results. You can turn on the result by checking the checkbox . The example below shows one possible result of a Search by Address.


  6. The results display one or more layers where features are found. Click the plus button next to a layer to display features found. For more details on using the Results window, see Using Results.

Search by Neighborhood task

  2. Select the neighborhood from the drop-down list.
  3. Click Find to start the search.
  4. The Results section expands in the Menu to display results of the search (if it does not expand automatically, click the down-arrow in the Results section to display it). The text searched for displays in the results item.
